Stop being the answer centre

People in positions of expertise are often expected to have the answer.

But sometimes the more powerful leadership move is to resist that instinct – and help someone else think their way forward.

That idea is at the heart of Stop Being the Answer Centre: A Coach Approach for Modern HR Leaders, a session Vision coach Jeff Green will deliver at the 2026 CPHR Atlantic HR Conference in Saint John, N.B., Oct. 27 to 29.

Jeff brings more than 30 years of leadership experience to the topic, but the idea extends well beyond HR.

In many roles, expertise can create pressure to solve problems quickly, offer advice or step in with the answer. A coaching approach offers another option – asking stronger questions, creating space for reflection and helping others take greater ownership of decisions and solutions.

For HR professionals, that can mean moving beyond being the person everyone turns to for answers. For leaders in any field, it can mean building the capacity of the people around them instead of becoming the bottleneck for every problem.

It is also central to Vision Coaching’s Using the Coach Approach program, which builds leadership coaching skills that empower people, encourage accountability and strengthen organizational effectiveness.

Vision Coaching is a sponsor of this year’s CPHR Atlantic Conference, which will bring HR professionals from across the region together for three days of learning and connection.
