Dwayne’s story: From managing people to empowering them

For Dwayne Snell, professional development has always been part of building a successful business. But as his real estate team grew, he recognized that becoming a more effective leader required a different kind of investment.
Dwayne, a realtor and team lead with The Snell Group Realtors, had worked with a real estate coach for years. This time, he wanted to focus on leadership – particularly communication, accountability and building a team culture grounded in shared values.
After following Vision Coaching COO Peter Stoddart's journey into coaching, Dwayne reached out and began six months of one-to-one coaching with Chantelle Courtney.
The experience helped him approach everyday leadership challenges with greater clarity and confidence.
As his team evolved, Dwayne learned to establish clearer expectations, strengthen accountability and use the company's core values as a foundation for difficult conversations and decisions.
"It's given me the confidence to hold strong to what I've learned – with that clarity, accountability and our core values," he says.
Dwayne particularly valued Chantelle's ability to help him work through real situations as they arose, even when that meant setting aside their original coaching agenda.
"I definitely got results. There's no question," he says. "I learned a lot about the leadership side of things."
Now, he's taking another step. Dwayne and a colleague have registered for Vision's public Using the Coach Approach program in February.
Their goal is to bring coaching skills into everyday leadership – helping team members identify their own goals, stay motivated and take greater ownership of their development.
“We're looking forward to learning how we can help our team reach their goals – not just company goals, but personal goals, too,” Dwayne says.
