More than 20 years of helping leaders grow

When Marilyn Orr joined Vision Coaching more than 20 years ago, coaching was still a relatively unfamiliar concept in Atlantic Canada.

Today, organizations across the region routinely invest in coaching to strengthen leadership, develop talent and navigate change. Marilyn has had a front-row seat to that evolution – and has helped shape it.

“It’s pretty dramatic,” she says, reflecting on the change. “When we started, people didn’t really know what coaching was – or what it wasn’t.”

For Marilyn, coaching brought together two long-standing interests. “I used to say I wished business and psychology could get married,” she recalls. “When I discovered coaching, I thought, ‘This has my name all over it.’”

Today, Marilyn serves as Managing Director, Coaching Services and Programs at Vision Coaching while continuing to coach leaders across a wide range of organizations.

She is particularly passionate about emotional intelligence, psychological safety and helping leaders create workplaces where people can do their best work.

She also mentors coaches across the Vision network, supporting their growth and helping them navigate complex client situations.

For Marilyn, effective leadership starts with understanding people. It is a philosophy that has shaped her coaching for more than two decades and one that continues to influence leaders, teams and organizations across Canada and the U.S.

“Respecting and caring for each other as humans,” she says, “that’s a big part of what makes us work.”

After more than 20 years with Vision, Marilyn’s impact can be seen not only in the clients she has coached, but in the coaches she has helped develop and the culture she has helped build.
