When Sylvie Levesque-Finn joined Vision Coaching in late 2015, she wasn’t simply beginning a second career. She was building on a lifetime of leadership.
After more than three decades in New Brunswick’s public service – including senior executive roles as deputy minister, president of Service New Brunswick and other leadership positions – Sylvie could have easily stepped away from leadership altogether.
But she had been introduced to leadership coaching by Vision CEO Dave Veale when he came in to coach executive leaders with the New Brunswick public service. He encouraged her to consider becoming a coach.
For Sylvie, it felt like a “natural next step” – she pursued executive coach certification at Royal Roads University. After securing the certification, Dave asked if she would join the coaching roster at Vision.
More than a decade later, she says joining Vision was one of the best decisions she could have made.
“I wanted the opportunity to learn alongside experienced coaches and be part of a team with an established reputation,” she says. “Being part of Vision has allowed me to continue growing as a coach while staying connected to a community that values learning, collaboration and supporting one another.”
Over the past 10 years, Sylvie has watched Vision Coaching evolve from a smaller organization into one with greater structure, broader reach and growing influence.
Today, she coaches senior leaders in both the public and private sectors in English and French, helping them navigate change, leadership transitions and the increasingly complex demands of executive leadership.
While workplaces have changed dramatically, Sylvie believes the fundamentals of leadership have not.
“Communication, relationships, decision-making – those are still the core challenges,” she says. “Leaders today are simply navigating them in a more complex environment.”
That perspective shapes her coaching. Rather than providing answers, she helps leaders create space to reflect, gain clarity and discover their own path forward.
For Sylvie, the impact of coaching extends far beyond the individual leader.
“When organizations invest in coaching, they’re really investing in everyone the leader touches,” she says. “The ripple effect reaches teams, workplaces and ultimately the people those organizations serve.”
